This photo was taken at a training exercise near Mullen, NE. Homeowners donate an old house to the fire department for the department to use for training. The house is then burned, under controlled situations, with firefighters training first on the interior. When the interior is too far gone to be safe anymore, the house is allowed to burn freely, with firefighters training on the outside on such things as protecting nearby structures and trees.
