I took this photo while camping at Merritt Reservoir with my daughter. The manmade reservoir is in Cherry County in North Central Nebraska. There was a storm coming in, which made the sunset unusually striking. I was lucky enough to catch this photo, with the willow trees framing the sunset. The cool air of the night meets the warmer air of an early morning in Lincoln County, NE, making fog for the colors of the rising sun to reflect off of, and creating this peaceful morning scene on the meadows of the Platte Valley near Hershey, NE.

Sun rises over the Bessey National Forest at Halsey on a cold November morning as birds sing and deer rustle through the trees, appearing apparition-like before you in the glare of the blinding early morning light.
